On Tuesday, November 26th, the event titled “From Within the Industry: Inspiring Success Stories” held at Hasan Kalyoncu University’s Cine Amphi provided a unique opportunity for students and participants interested in the defense and aviation sector. The event brought together two prominent figures with over 20 years of experience in the industry.
One of the speakers, Uğur Coşkun, transformed BİTES, the company he developed over 22 years, into Turkey’s second-largest software firm in the defense and aviation sector. In 2023, he transferred all shares of the company to ASELSAN and established Ad Astra Technology Group (AATG), marking a strong re-entry into the industry. During his inspirational speech, Coşkun shared his vision regarding disruptive technologies and highlighted Turkey’s potential and future opportunities in the defense and aviation industry, particularly in entrepreneurship and innovative technologies.
The other speaker, Ümit Bayraktar, began his career in sectoral publishing after graduating from Istanbul Technical University’s Aircraft Engineering program. He founded MSI Magazine, which will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2024, and is well known for its publications both domestically and internationally in the defense and aviation sectors. Bayraktar offered valuable advice to students regarding their career journeys and provided insights into the importance of sectoral communication and media.
At the end of the event, the speakers answered questions from students, clarifying topics of interest. This event, which presented significant insights into the future of Turkey’s defense and aviation industry, served to raise sectoral awareness and guide students in their career planning.
The speakers, Ümit Bayraktar and Uğur Coşkun, were presented with certificates of appreciation by the Dean of the Faculty of Aeronautics and Aerospace, Prof. Dr. Muhammet Fatih Hasoğlu, for their participation.
